Welcome to our blog—a space where recipes, home living, and the philosophy of simplicity come together to inspire a more intentional and fulfilling life. This isn’t just about decluttering or saving money; it’s about creating a balanced, joyful lifestyle that is true to our values.
The blog is built around three main themes: Recipes, Home & Beyond, and Everyday Simplicity. While they may seem distinct, they’re deeply connected. The kitchen is the heart of our home, where we delight in exploring new recipes and embracing the simple joy of preparing meals to nourish ourselves and our loved ones. The “Home & Beyond” category focuses on creating a functional, welcoming space that supports your everyday life, whether it’s through organization, gardening, or small DIY projects. And “Everyday Simplicity” ties everything together with a philosophy of living intentionally—focusing on what matters and letting go of what doesn’t.
We feel this combination works because life itself isn’t neatly divided. The meals we cook rely on an organized kitchen and a thoughtful approach to shopping and storage. A peaceful, uncluttered home makes room for creative cooking, better habits, and a clearer mind. And living simply—choosing fewer, better things—enhances everything, from how we eat to how we spend our time.
Why We Started This Blog
Life can often feel overwhelming, with endless to-do lists, cluttered spaces, and a constant chase for “more.” We’ve been there, and we know how exhausting it can be. That’s why we decided to create this blog—to share our journey toward simplifying, organizing, and focusing on what truly matters.
Many of the ideas shared here have roots in our personal experiences living in Romania, with a focus on adapting to the region’s specific lifestyle, culture, and resources. Some of the content on this blog was originally written in Romanian and then distilled here to reach a wider audience. As a result, much of the advice, recipes, and tips are centered on life in the EU in general, and in Romania in particular.
While the general ideas—simplifying, saving, and creating a fulfilling life—are universal, some advice may not apply where you live. Additionally, certain products or resources I mention might not be available in your area. Nevertheless, I hope the core principles and inspirations resonate with you, wherever you are.
Why Meze and Wine?
You might wonder why this is “Meze and Wine” and not “Mezze and Wine”. Both spellings point to the same idea—a table of small plates meant to be shared slowly, over good conversation and a glass of something (we prefer wine or beer, but non-alcoholic works as well). The word itself begins in Persian, where maze meant simply “taste” or “relish,” and from there it traveled in every direction—though it traveled differently depending on where you ended up. Mezze, with its double z, carries the accent of the Levant and North Africa. Meze, the single-z spelling, reaches us through Turkish and Greek—and that’s the version that feels closest to our souls. Living in southeastern Europe, our cooking has always been influenced by Turkish, Greek, and other regional cultures—a fusion of them all, in its own way—rather than the Lebanese or Moroccan kitchens we admire from a little farther away. Think olives, grilled vegetables, briny cheeses, a good white-bean dip, but also polenta, which plays an important role in our cuisine. The spelling is a small thing, but an honest one: it tells you where these recipes are rooted.

Practical home and garden tips – Our home is more than a living space; it’s a sanctuary of comfort and peace. Creating and maintaining this refuge is an ongoing effort—a constant chore of decluttering, organizing, and making small adjustments to ensure it remains warm and welcoming. Here, we share practical tips and ideas to help you make your home a place of comfort, one step at a time.
Minimalism and frugal living – Minimalism, to us, is not about sacrifice or deprivation. It’s about creating a balance—a lifestyle that blends practicality, comfort, and functionality. It’s about letting go of the unnecessary to make room for what truly matters, allowing life to feel lighter, more intentional, and ultimately more fulfilling.
For us, simplifying life doesn’t mean settling for less; it means prioritizing quality and purpose. I’m more than willing to invest in high-quality, expensive items if they save space, make life easier, or provide lasting value. I don’t view minimalism as reducing life to the bare essentials or living out of a suitcase. Instead, it’s a deliberate approach to focus on what enriches my life, choosing fewer but thoughtfully selected items that serve a meaningful purpose.
Sustainability and resourcefulness – In a world where waste is too common, we are passionate about finding ways to reduce, reuse, and recycle. From creative ways to repurpose leftovers to DIY projects using everyday items, this blog is full of ideas for living more sustainably without feeling deprived.
A Bit About Us
We enjoy simple pleasures—cooking a hearty meal from scratch, growing a thriving garden, or curling up with a good book in a cozy corner of my home. Over the years, we’ve learned that living simply doesn’t mean sacrificing; it means finding what truly makes us happy and focusing on it.
This blog is deeply influenced by our experience living in Europe, where traditions of resourcefulness, seasonal eating, and small-space living are part of everyday life. Our goal is to blend this rich cultural heritage with modern solutions to create a practical and fulfilling lifestyle.
